Sabah, Land below the Wind
09.06.08 (3:18 pm)   [edit]

Hi all,

As promise, i will tell you about my latest story. I and my family (six of us) went to Sabah on August 28 for 6 days vacation. Amazing and wonderful, truly a great moments there.

From Kota Kinabalu International Airport i drove (climbing the hill) for about 3 hours to Kundasan. Kundasan is a small town and a first stop for you if you wish to climb the Mount Kinabalu (the second highest mountain in Southeast Asia with an altitude of 4,101 metres (13,455 ft).... ha ha ha that is me at Kinabalu Pine Resort, background is Mount Kinabalu . Really cold here, temperature at night is about 15'C, afternoon is about 20'C... , no need to have aircond or fan.

Me and my daughter at Sabah Tea Valley, about 25 km from Kundasan. We also went to Poring Spring (hot water) to relax.

So we stay 3 Days 2 nights in Kundasan, we love to eat 'sayap' or chicken wing grill with honey and red hot pepper. Vegitables is really cheap, but the food is a bit expensive.

On the forth day we went to Kota Kinabalu and stayed at Promenade Hotel

this is a sunset view from my room at Promenade Hotel, trully amazing. We stayed there for 4 days 3 nights.

One of our activities is Island Hopping (Mamutik Island, Manukan Island and Sapi Island) all of them famous with coral reefs, which is ideal for snorkelling, diving and swimming (my son with the snorkelling gear)

Me, my son and my ex-girlfriend (holding my daughter) at Tanjung Aru (about 5 minutes from Kota Kinabalu International Airport) before we took flight home.

An amazing country... hope you can come here and feel the excitement

Haven't made it to Kota Kinabalu yet, despite living in the country next door. Hope I will be able to do it someday (and not collapse halfway up)! Looks like a great holiday, congrats!

Yep, I've mostly been to KL for business and Penang (because my dad was from there). We also went to Langkawi a few years back for a beach holiday - now that was nice!
