Well, I think the insult of my President is unnecessary and based upon a false premise. While the US is a rich and wasteful and highly imperfect country, the people are highly generous and likely give more to charity and world hunger than most anyone else. And most Americans I know, heck I'd say every American I know, feeds their family on a whole lot less money than the so-called Revis family of North Carolina. Our family food budget is certainly not extravagant.

Please. I'm so not surprised you'd figure out a way to be offended by the simple point being made here. You "compassionate conservative" types are such a hoot. Yes Dave, my food budget is far less than the family in North Carolina too. The point is so very valid though, that it seems to me downright snobby of you (in my opinion) to not understand and appreciate the premise without being offended on poor George Bush's behalf.

I do not disagree that our culture, our society, is wasteful with food. I just think there was a needless little political "potshot" at the end of the piece. And, in spit of this trend toward some to relish in bashing of their own country, America is a very generous nation. Go ahead and criticize, but in the name of fairness give a little credit, also.

Hartford? That explains some things. You probably have never met a politically conservative American.

Dave, the point is Bush DID make the claim. It was utter bullshit when he said it and it offended a lot of people who never did the U.S. a lick of harm. Whether the U.S. has generous people in it is not anywhere near the point. Plus, we're no more generous than any other people. some of us just feel the need to toot our own horn about it more.

Claim? I guess you refer to the obvious, that a growing world economy/population/market means a greater demand for the food supplies from countries like India, and therefore the prices will inevitably rise for the products. This is not an insult, it just makes sense.

Yeah, Conn is a Constitutional state, just like the other 49. Every state in the U.S. has a constitution.

hubris - excessive pride or self-confidence; arrogance... yes that what happen when u are at the top and cannot see anymore people below you.

frankly speaking... because of the hubris, Citibank lost millions, Bear Stern almost collapse... subprime almost drag the whole world with its lost.

because of that the US economics become too weak and thus weaken the dollar thus increase the oil price to the unbelieveable level...

so Pastor Dave... because of 'hubris' american drag the whole world the bottom

end of my agrument... lol

There's plenty of truth in what you said... You'll also find that most "conservatives" are terribly bothered any time our country is criticized by people who don't live here. In fact, that bothers them almost as much as when there's criticism by people who DO live here. It's a weird thing. They equate criticism with a lack of patriotism, which it most certainly is not.
